ITINERARY

Provisional Schedule

Saturday 27 August

Meet at Manchester (and other) Airport three hours prior to your scheduled flight to Johannesburg departing at 1810 hrs. 
Overnight:  In Flight

Sunday 28 August

On arrival into Johannesburg at 0830 hrs, clear Immigration. Meet your coach and transfer initially to Lesedi Cultural Village to enjoy their renowned cultural tour and
dance show at 1130 hrs. They have a wonderful lunch. We are then off to our hotel where you will be based for the following two nights.  Tonight a Welcome reception awaits you at your hotel.

Monday 29 August

This morning awake to the winter's African sunshine. Transport is available for embarking on an excursion to Magaliesberg Canopy Tour where you journey through one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world! Lots to see and the Zip-line adrenaline rush is quite something, with the first run at 1030 hrs (paid for on the day). Afterwards travel in to Johannesburg to the MAD GIANT Brewery on Fox Street, for some beer tasting and food.

Tuesday 30 August

Transfer to Johannesburg Airport for your 1125 hrs flight to Port Elizabeth. On arrival at 1305 hrs, meet with your coach and transfer to Kariega Game Reserve where you will be based for the following three nights in Main Camp. Upon checking in you will be able to enjoy your first escorted game drive.

Wednesday 31 August

This morning enjoy game drive in this malaria-free game lodge incorporates 10,000 hectares of pristine African wilderness, as well as two abundant rivers - the Kariega and the Bushmans rivers. The reserve actually offers five safari lodges to suit all needs. Experience close up game viewing of the Big 5 - lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard - as well as multitudes of other South African wildlife from the comfort of an open game drive vehicle.

Return to the lodge for a sumptuous breakfast. The day to relax either using the gym or at the spa at the Kariega Wellness Centre. Later head out for a boat safari.

Thursday 01 September

This morning enjoy a game drive. During the day you have the opportunity to get involved with the Kariega Foundation, based around the local community and conservation. As a token of appreciation by our friend and owner, Mark Rushmere, selected beverages are included for the day. Hope you make the afternoon game drive and then return for a braai and evening around the firepit swapping stories...with and about Nev!

Friday 02 September

This morning enjoy a game drive, before breakfast and then checking out for your travels along the Garden Route, an area of outstanding natural beauty. For those that are not so faint hearted there are the Face Adrenalin bungy options at Bloukrans Bridge. There will be the chance also to visit the world famous surfing mecca of Jeffreys Bay, or more commonly referred to as 'J Bay' where amongst other things you can visit the Quiksilver & Roxy Factory Shop. You will be based in the Plettenberg Bay/Knysna area for the evening. 

Sundowner drinks have been arranged and dinner at Grand Café at 1830, whilst watching the sun set. To be paid for locally.

Saturday 03 September

This morning a boat trip has been arranged with Ocean Blue Adventures for a close and personal awe-inspiring encounter with the fascinating majestic whales in the bay. Your journey westwards shall be punctuated with opportunities for photographic shots along the way such at at natural beauty of locations like as Wilderness and Sedgefield. Arriving in the late afternoon, you can check in to your accommodation before dinner which is arranged for you at Haute Cabrière.

Sunday 04 September

A lazy Sunday on tour, and what could be better than spending it in the Winelands, and marvelling at the beauty of the Western Cape. The Franschhoek Wine Tram is well worth checking out, as is a visit the Cheetah Outreach Project! There are many wineries of note and boutique shops. Make your way to the The Gallery at Grand Provence Heritage Wine Estate for pre-dinner drinks at 1400 hrs

Monday 05 September

This morning you have the opportunity to wander the galleries and coffee shops of Franschhoek. Depart for Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard for lunch. After a relaxing afternoon then travel the short distance to the beautiful university town Stellenbosch, fames for its oak lined streets and heart of the wine district. Evening free.

Tuesday 06 September

This is a lazy day to enjoy the local sights of the Winelands and/or involvement with a local charity project Inspire Children and Youth in nearby Malmesbury. In the late afternoon dinner is arranged at The Fat Butcher in Stellenbosch at 1800 hrs and paid for locally. Later an evening get together has been organised at The Steam restaurant.

Wednesday 07 September

In the morning transfer to the suburb of Muizenberg, where a Surf lesson has been arranged with Roxy Davies, from Surf Emporium. Once you have mastered riding the waves, you can then enjoy fish and chips overlooking Muizenberg Beach. Return via the wineries of Constantia for some cool 'wine and chocolate' tasting, and on to Cape Town where you can enjoy the evening. You shall be based for the final five nights of the tour in Cape Town. Dinner this evening is being hosted to lunch by Barry Nieuwoudt at City Grill at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront at 1900. The atmosphere around the bars and restaurants is legendry and makes for magical moments.

Thursday 08 September

This morning you will enjoy a trip to Cape Point, a nature reserve within the Table Mountain National Park, the Cape of Good Hope, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. Visit the wonderful resorts of Clifton and Camps Bay, before the opportunity to take a boat trip from Hout Bay to Seal Island. Chapman's Peak scenic drive will rival anywhere in the world, and finally Boulders Beach which is home to a growing colony of the endangered African Penguin. Lunch will be arranged at Jake's on the Green, which can be paid for locally.   Afterwards you will visit the Cheetah Outreach Centre before heading back to the Waterfront.

Friday 09 September

 This morning included for you is a Langa Township Tour, which is Cape Town’s oldest township, established in 1923. You will enjoy an escorted tour and learn about the Township’s history and culture and meet the local children. A Lunch is also included at Sheila's Café.

Afterwards continue in to Cape Town and the first day of the Rugby World Cup Sevens at Cape Town Stadium

Saturday 10 September

No visit to Cape Town is complete without a visit to Table Mountain. Accessible by cable car, it offers outstanding views of Table Bay and the Western Cape. Afterwards travel to Cape Town Stadium for the Rugby World Cup Sevens.

Sunday 11 September

This morning visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Walk from here to Cape Town Stadium for the final day of the Rugby World Cup Sevens.

​Monday 12 September

Following breakfast, depart your hotel and you will have the most of the day free for your own sightseeing, before you venture to Bloubergstrand for some iconic views of Cape Town and Table Mountain. A very easy going late lunch is to be enjoyed at 'On the Rocks' before you transfer to Cape Town Airport where you will check in for your flight to the UK departing at 1745 hrs.

Tuesday 13 September

Arrive in Manchester at 0820 hrs. Collect luggage and pass through Customs and Immigration, and disperse for home.
